Weekends with Pregzilla

*"Pregzilla" is my brother's new nickname for me. I can't wait til you have a preggo wife, Benny.

I know a lot of you, well, let's go ahead and say all of you, have better things to do on a Saturday night than sit at home and watch Saturday Night Live. (Honey, you're a trooper!) Anyway, being pregnant has me laid up on the couch most Saturday nights watching, what else?, SNL. Believe it or not, they have actually been semi-funny these days. A few weekends ago they had Tracy Morgan hosting, and he did a lot of his old funny stuff. (Astronaut Jones, anyone?) Well, they have a new recurring skit that is my fave...MacGruber. It's a hilarious spin-off of MacGyver--as if MacGyver isn't hilarious enough in itself. Since most of you have places to go and beer to drink on Saturdays, here is a clip. Again, you can thank me later for this little gem.

Gimme back that filet o' fish...

*First of all, can I just say that I laugh my bum off everytime I see the above mentioned commercial. It's absolutely hilarious to me. I don't know if it's the guys faces or what. I've posted the video below for your enjoyment.

On Saturday Kevin and I went fishing on some bayous across the river. As far as quantity of fish caught, it wouldn't be considered a very successful trip. However, we had an awesome time riding the boat in all the small bayous over there, and it was a beautiful day. We did see tons of snakes, though. Ugh. We are usually pretty lucky fishermen, so because we weren't this time, you get to see pictures of all (both) the fish we caught. (Neither considered "wall-hangers") By the time we got home we were so hungry for fish, that we defrosted an earlier catch of white perch from our freezer and fried them up. Hey, we caught them, just not that exact day!

We love this floating bayou shack.

Hold the phone!

I was completely blindsided on Thursday when I found out that my big brother, Ben, and his girlfriend, Morgan, had gotten engaged! (I'm not sure if I actually said, "Hold the phone" when I heard the news, but if I didn't, I should've.) Not only is Ben getting married, but he is marrying an awesome girl! Morgan is much more than we could've expected (oh come on, Ben still hangs out in libraries...who does that??), and I am so happy to welcome her into the family. We could not be more excited for both of you! So, congrats Benny! I made up a little dance for you with my kitten band.

Let the clothes washing commence!

We had our 34 week doctor's appointment today, and our 2nd (and last) sonogram. I am proud to report that Helen really is a girl :) I am even more proud to announce that she is a healthy girl! She was breech last time, but has now headed south and is ready to come out (soon, please). She is just weighing in at a little over 5 pounds now, and rejoice, the doc said that she will most likely only gain about 2 more pounds in the next month. Y'all, seriously, that put me in a GREAT mood! I am feeling rejuvenated at the thought of only having to push out about 7 pounds! I can do that! What I am not so excited about is having to wait maybe 6 more weeks to see her! I don't know if I can do that! I have attached some pics below, though some are a little hard to figure out what you're looking at.

Check out that head! ;) I made sure to ask the doc if that was bigger than usual, and was assured it wasn't. But she is still looking a little alien-ish here, right?

Here is Helen looking a little more human. You can see her sweet face and a hand that might be pinching that cheek? That's the placenta in front of the lower part of her face and body. She looks like she might have hair, too, but I can't tell if that's just a shadow.

This one is a little more vague. Her face is in the upper left corner and her little arms are curled up on the bottom and right of her face. Her legs are curled up right underneath...she looks squooshed in there!

Crib Notes

Helen's room is really coming together now. We got her crib about a week ago, and got it put together with only a few hiccups. It even has sheets on it! Granted, they haven't quite been washed yet, but I wanted y'all to get the full effect. I have to admit, though, I haven't started washing anything of hers. I'm waiting to just be positive that she is, in fact, female! Crazy, I know, but I feel like I need to be sure! Ha! Anyway, here are some pics of the room + crib. You can also see the new knobs on the dresser. I had to get pink & green because there weren't enough green when I finally got back to Hobby Lobby. Also, Kevin installed the new quarter round molding on the baseboards that looks fab--thanks, honey ;)
As far as my health, I am having to start taking many more breaks throughout the day because my feet & back are hurting so much now. I am still managing at least a mile walk a day, though. I feel like if I quit that, everything will go downhill! I am clinging to it, even though I go slower and slower each day. Thank goodness I have Oscar to keep dragging me along!

I know, I know...

I complain about being pregnant a lot! But this blog is supposed to be like a diary, right?? ...Okay, a very public diary. A place where I will look back and think of all of the silly things that I complained about, and what a wimp I was during my first pregnancy. A place for my friends to visit while slacking off at work, I'm sure, and have a laugh (hopefully)? Maybe a place to hear some good tunes? (If y'all haven't browsed through my playlist below, I encourage you to.)
All of the above, but mostly a place for me to voice my thoughts, opinions, and, yep, complaints.

I AM SICK OF BEING PREGNANT!

I am swollen to the max & last night I told my husband that if this didn't end soon I was going down and taking him with me!! All I got was a laugh, and that made me even more angry!

Okay (Mom), it's not the actual "miracle" making me miserable. Just the length of time she's taking to get here. I swear, I could handle this if it were like 3 months? ;)

Bungle in the Jungle

We have been in the process for the past week of getting our house painted. It was a kind of an out of the blue decision. We just went to Sherwin Williams one day and picked out some samples, painted them on the house, and picked our favorite. The next day we were getting our house painted! If you had seen it before, it was a kind of "granny" light bluish/gray. No offense to Kevin's "granny"! The new color is called "Bunglehouse Gray", but it really looks more like a greenish khaki color. Here are some before & after pics for you to judge for yourself. Do y'all have any suggestions for the door color? I want something that "pops", but I might just go with black (the shutters are black, too). I have been trying to convince K of a toned down mustard color, but I seriously doubt I will be getting away with that!

I'll pass on the jicama...

Okay, so what the hell is a jicama anyway? That is my produce of the week…by which to measure the alien princess. Well, we had our 32 week appointment yesterday and it turns out Helen is more like a cantaloupe or honeydew melon than a damn "large jicama". Yes, the good doctor informed us that our precious “little” girl is weighing in around 5 pounds these days. Great, you say? Yeah, except that she’s only supposed to be 3 1/2 pounds these days. I’m going with the obvious again: she’s all legs. Got to be it. I mean, by the kicks to the ribs she administers (and of course my genes) it's apparent. Speaking of kicks, she gave me one to the bladder last night, and I lost it. Literally. Ahhh, the joys of pregnancy!

Showered

*Let me start off by telling you I am sorry for not blogging in awhile. I will slap my hand for you and try to do better!*

Last weekend I was honored with a wonderful shower by my best friends. They really outdid themselves! We had the best food & a great crowd. I got tons of stuff, and let's just say that Helen will never be naked. I am very blessed to have such awesome friends. Thanks, girls!
